Vampire Prosecutor’s first impression : It’s bloody awesome

vampire prosecutor korean drama

Cable channel OCN’s drama Vampire Prosecutor already aired the fourth episode out of 12 scheduled.
And we loved 4 out of 4.

It’s a smarty written drama, quite low key but fantastic casts and above all, Vampire Prosecutor is beautifully directed.

Smartly written
Aside from the vampire thing, to be honest, there were nothing new in the crime and murder stories in each episode of  Vampire Prosecutor . We saw that genre everywhere.
But the writer so clever, he makes the story so fast – you blink and you’ll miss some pieces – and so smart – we’re not boring at all despite sometimes we already suspected the twist and who’s the murderer.

Combines with genuine idea of a prosecutor who can traces some frames of victim’s sight by drinking its blood, the story itself  already awesome, fresh and intriguing.

A quite low key but fantastic casts
The three main casts , Yun Jung Hoon, Lee Young Ah and Lee Won Jong are well-known actors, but they are not big names.
Han Ga In is way more popular than her husband Yun Jung Hoon. Lee Young Ah is famous but not a superstar. And Lee Won Jong is usual sidekick actor.

But credit to PD who cast them, Yun Jung Hoon showed a cool prosecutor with his mature acting. Lee Young Ah put her cuteness in perfect proportion and Lee Won Jong stabilizes the two prosecutors with his loose and comic character without looks cheesy.

Beautifully directed
As the cable channel drama tends to have its schedule way better than big three
(KBS, SBS and MBC) broadcast stations’ drama , they could avoid live shooting (the drama was shot in the same day with its airing day) and resulted in beautiful pictures, good editing, good directing and present us a  great computer graphic effect.

Overall, it’s a well made drama, kudos to the production team.

Vampire Prosecutor somehow reminds us  a lot with last year cable channel tvN ‘s  Joseon X-files, which was a masterpiece drama.
Both shares similarities in some areas :

  1. Cast : both has three main characters who solve the mystery, 1 leading man, 1 leading woman and 1 sidekick funny man.
  2. Story : of course both has a totally different story but they also produce 1 mystery to be solved per episode. Both also has  a backbone story/mystery from the beginning which was solved at the very end of the drama in Joseon X-Files and we predict the same happens to Vampire Prosecutor.
  3. As the leading man in Joseon X-Files was vanished dramatically in the end, we also predict something big will happen to the vampire prosecutor. But as vampire can not die, maybe it’s only a big revelation or big twist in the end and we could also totally wrong :)

So, we loved this drama and addicted to it and we only want some romance moments between the two prosecutors, that would be a treat.

It’s still early to tell but Vampire Prosecutor is our strongest candidate for Best Drama of the year and Yun Jung Hoon followed with notable candidate for Best Actor award ! Ha !
