SBS picked ‘The History of the Salaryman’ as their upcoming primetime Monday-Tuesday drama replacing A Thousand Days’ Promises.
The History of the Salaryman will show us the daily life of an office worker, his joy and sorrow.
41-year-old actor Lee Beom Soo (Giant) will take the leading man role Yoo Bang, the salaryman. The leading lady is grabbed by actress Jung Ryu Won ( Princess Ja Myung Go, My Name is Kim Sam Soon) who will play the role of Yeo Chi.
This drama also casts strong actor and actress with Jung Gyu Won (Romance Town, Sign) and Hong Soo Hyun (The Princess’ Man, Lie To Me ) for man and woman second lead roles.
2011 definitely a breakthrough year for 30-year-old Hong Soo Hyun. She plays 3 consecutive second leading lady roles , started with Lie To Me (in which she didn’t perform good but the hype of the drama was enough to make her being noticed), then she straight joined The Princess’ Man which was a successful drama and Hong Soo Hyun showed a quite great acting there.
And now in The History of the Salaryman, she will play an intellectual-attractive lady named Cha Woo Hee. She’s great at modern arts and classical music. She is actually came from an isolated small mountain village but she trained herself into a perfect modern city woman.
On the production side, this drama will be helmet by PD Yoo In Sik who also directed Lee Beom Soo’s previous drama : Giant and Surgeon Bong Dal Hee. Meanwhile the script will be written by writer Jang Yung Chul (Giant, Dae Jo Yeong) and Jung Kyung Soon (Giant).
This drama title gives a clue of a down to earth storyline which is nice but it’s still early to tell until the more revealing synopsis comes out.
20 episodes The History of the Salaryman started shooting couple weeks ago for January 2012 debut.
