March Madness : Micky Yoochun vs Lee Seung Gi ; Yoo Ah In, Yoona and Jang Geun Suk all in action

March Madness means basketball to many people, but for us  March 2012 is March madness as this month we’re showered with at least 7 new dramas along with its heavyweight stars.

You won’t want to miss the big names like Ha Ji Won, Lee Seung Gi, Micky Yoo Chun, Uhm Tae Woong, Han Ji Min, Yoo Ah In, Yoona, Yun Jung Hoon and Jang Geun Suk !

All of them will greet us in March 2012.

March 3

The March madness starts with Yun Jung Hoon in Can Love Become Money (CLBM) , a cable channel’s drama.

Without question, Vampire Prosecutor reinvented Yun Jung Hoon as notable leading man  and in result we anticipated CLBM to see his new assignment.

March 14

KBS was already the loser in the first battle in 2012 with competitors SBS and MBC when KBS’ drama Wild Romance recorded embarrassing rating compared to SBS’ Take Care of Us Captain (TCOUC)and MBC The Moon That Embraces The Sun (TMTETS) with the later became monster rating.

KBS even deliberately prepared a 4 episodes filler drama in order to  make Wild Romance’s successor didn’t debut when  highly popular TMTETS is still airing.

But, it doesn’t mean we agree with Korean audience as we found it’s difficult to continue to watch TMTETS as we’re tired with its makjang-vibe. For TCOFC, we hardly finished the first episode of it. On the other hand we found Wild Romance as compelling and entertaining drama despite all its flaws.

So now we’re heading to the second battle this year when once again KBS, SBS and MBC will head to head in its Wed-Thurs drama , KBS is in new hope with The Equator Man, SBS puts Rooftop Prince and MBC wants to continue its massive success with The King 2hearts.

And it’s very likely that MBC with The King 2hearts will once again win the battle, but this time we think with a narrower margin.

KBS’ The Equator Man still dealing with its teen actors in the first couple of episodes, it makes the battle will be between 2 heartthrob actors : Lee Seung Gi and Micky Yoochun.

We loved some Micky Yoochun but we think that Lee Seung Gi is a more broader actor and we guess that Korean audience will love him too. Moreover he gets Ha Ji Won as his tandem. Ha Ji Won was so successful with Secret Garden, many people will tune in to see her plays a humble girl who kicking ass again.

So, MBC got advantage in casting area, then added that Rooftop Prince is a more fun rom-com drama -which usually doesn’t fit ajummas taste- then it’s very likely that The King 2hearts will get better rating.

But KBS also brings the classic childhood revenge story too with Equator Man, so we think KBS also will not disappoint this time.

March 18

Cable channel OCN presents a quite different theme with its new drama Hero (and we loved OCN because of its diversity). This time is about a man with supernatural ability gives justice to the corrupt gang. Based on the trailer, it’s full of exciting 3D computer graphic images, so we won’t  miss this one.

March 19

Fashion King debuts and while the story doesn’t feel innovative , we will check this because we’ve been missing Yoo Ah In since the Sungkyunkwan Scandal’s days.

March 26

Love Rain with Yoona and Jang Geun Suk is the most hyped drama for the first half of 2012, no wonder as both of them are so popular and  have millions of fans.
But, will they produce good drama ? Only time will tell but Yoona and Geun Suk definitely already produced beautiful stills. They’re gorgeous people !

Updated March 7:
The King 2hearts is delayed for a week, and will debut March 21. All because of its predecessor -The Moon Sun- experienced MBC labor union strike, so The Moon Sun added a 2 special episodes this week (March 7 &8)  before its 2 final episodes airs March 14 & 15.

The extended broadcast of The Moon Sun seems frighten SBS as they plan to push Rooftop Prince into March 21 too, to avoid Rooftop Prince airs in the same day with The Moon Sun’s finale. They prepare a one act special drama titled Family Portrait to fill the time slot on March 14.

And what about KBS’ The Equator Man ?
There’s no way out, apparently. KBS already added  4 episodes special drama to avoid The Moon Sun but now with sudden extension, KBS has no plan to delay again. Bravely they airs The Equator Man pilot episode head to head with The Moon Sun’s finale, yeah !

KBS decided to do everything to avoid The Moon Sun and delayed Equator Man for March 21. Smart move ! And we get 3 dramas debut on March 21 ! Let’s see how they compete each other !
