Unstoppable ‘The Thieves’ is the king of box-office for second straight weeks

The Thieves‘ box office success was predictable in the start but not with this surprising numbers.
The Thieves officially trumps Dark Night Rises for 2 straight weekends and as for today has been collecting more admission than Dark Night Rises which was opened a week earlier.

For the weekend of August 3 -5 , The Thieves brought 2,007,595 admissions for total of 6,882,518 since debuted on July 25.
Meanwhile Dark Night Rises brought 616,664 in the weekend for the total of 5,524,435 since debuted on July 19.

On its way, The Thieves already broke several records such as movie with the biggest opening numbers in South Korea this year. The Thieves also booked equal record with 2006 hit movie The Host (Korean movie) and 2011 Hollywood movie Transformers : Dark of The Moon to bring 4 million admissions only in 8 days after opening.

Although it’s still a quite long way for The Thieves to conquer Avatar (the all-time biggest admissions movie in South Korea with more than 13 million audiences) , but it’s undisputedly clear that The Thieves will break the 10 million marks in the next couple of weeks.

That means Kim Soo Hyun must be ready to keep his promise to give a piggyback to the 10,000,000th admission.
