Cable channel OCN’s drama Vampire Prosecutor already aired the fourth episode out of 12 scheduled.
And we loved 4 out of 4.
It’s a smarty written drama, quite low key but fantastic casts and above all, Vampire Prosecutor is beautifully directed.
Smartly written
Aside from the vampire thing, to be honest, there were nothing new in the crime and murder stories in each episode of Vampire Prosecutor . We saw that genre everywhere.
But the writer so clever, he makes the story so fast – you blink and you’ll miss some pieces – and so smart – we’re not boring at all despite sometimes we already suspected the twist and who’s the murderer.
Combines with genuine idea of a prosecutor who can traces some frames of victim’s sight by drinking its blood, the story itself already awesome, fresh and intriguing.
That’s what came in mind after watched the first 6 episodes of Deep Rooted Tree.
We simply can’t imagine other actors play the role of Kang Chae Yun which amazingly played by Jang Hyuk.
Although this time, the quality is not as great as Dae Gil’s role in Chuno, but we think it’s only a matter of the type of character created by the writer. Dae Gil was far more complex character than one dimensional Kang Chae Yun which gave Jang Hyuk more spaces to expand his character.
Interestingly, both characters shared the same larger than life obsession, Dae Gil obsessed to find his lover and Kang Chae Yun only lived for revenge.
After two and a half months addicted and fell in love with bloody revenge drama City Hunter, we doubt whether there is another drama that can make us addicted again in the upcoming couple of months.
Turns out we don’t need to wait long because right now we addicted to Protect The Boss, City Hunter’s successor.
Protect The Boss (PTB) has a basic Korean drama storyline, a rich boy encounters a poor girl whom also loved by that rich boy’s circle of family/friends and there is another second girl who has a past with the male lead but unfortunately she will be left behind.
It has the exact basic recipe with previous rom-com drama Lie To Me, but fortunately, PTB’s writer did something Lie To Me’s writer didn’t.
So what PTB’s writer did?
They created the main lead with full unconventional character and stick to it through entirely drama (so far until episode 4).
It’s a complete episode, you got heartbreaking touching moment (when Na Na saved Yun Seong), many hilarious moments (especially with Shik Joong ajusshi), a surprise of sooner than expected secret revelation (for Yun Seong that his mom never abandoned him) , a wind of change (for shark prosecutor Kim Young Joo -his father is a corrupt man- now the City Hunter keeps an eye for you) , a declaration of war (between father Jin Pyo and Yun Seong) include the action package in the street and last but not the least, we got a couple (finally Yun Seong and Nana are an item), horray !
Opened with Kim Na Na’s grande sacrifice, reminds us to Bruno Mars’ Grenade : I would take a bullet for you baby ! Yeah !

Just finished watching the latest episode, episode 8, and we wonder, will the next episode top this one ?
City Hunter, it’s been an addicting ride so far, the pace still in super fast mode, blink an eye, then you lost a moment.
Meanwhile, all aspects in this series seems meticulously crafted. We get an adequate tense detective-spy-action scenes , we also get a fair delight camaraderie grows into jealousy banter between Na Na and Yoon Sung. This drama so far cleverly gives a small hot romance session (almost kissing scene on the sofa) – which makes us starve for more.
It has a cinderella spicy. An ugly ducking hopeless 34 year old Lee So Young who is in her lowest moment of her life gets affection from the prince, the handsome rich boss.
Jang Nara in her comeback comes into being effortlessly cute and lovable, presents a solid acting skill.
Ryu Jin who looks more handsome and youthful by lost some substantial weight plays a standard prince charming character in Korean drama. No uniqueness, no interesting personality, a bland and safe character.
On the other hand, Choi Daniel plays a cheerful-funny man with common comical stuff but somehow he succesfully made it fresh and live it up. Surprisingly pleasant ! He brings lots of laugh!
The last main role is played by Kim Min Seo, again a standard ‘girl with history in the past with male lead‘ character. No more no less.
The long awaited drama finally arrived, the first 2 episodes of City Hunter were aired and guess what ? We liked it !
Derailed from early promise – Lee Min Ho be a flamboyant playboy detective who hunts city criminal , just as the original famous manga- we , instead , got Lee Min Ho , a tend to be a cold man, with heavy past story -which likely only happens in movie or drama- who works undercover in the hunt of The Gang of 5.

Ji Sung surely an A-list Korean actor but the leading lady Yum Jung Ah , 39-year-old veteran actress, just back to entertainment business after a maternity leave. Her last appearance was 2008 drama Working Mom where she played a wife with a cheated husband.
Another noted cast is Cha Ye Ryun, a mediocre in popularity and acting too, plus super veteran actress , 60-year-old Kim Young Ae.

Both My Princess (MBC) and Sign (SBS) debuted at the same time 3 weeks ago with good start.
Those two created close rivalry in rating battle, Sign unexpectedly win with slight margin in the first 2 episodes.
My Princess took over the second week, win with wide margin (around 20%) for the third and fourth episodes.
But, the rating war still not over, for the third week (episode 5 and 6) Sign increased its rating while My Princess decreased which narrowed the gap into around 10% with My Princess still in the lead.
We already saw the first 4 episodes of both dramas and here is our thought.
Sign
The plot
“When living person will lie, the dead corps will always tell the truth”.
Sign is about the lives of forensic doctors, their intrigue, their job helps police uncovers crime and spiced with love story.
We afraid Sign will be a boring drama, but after the first episode, we loved it. It’s not over the top story, it’s realistic , not draggy, super great pace so far.
