Ugh, medical drama.
We braced for doctors rivalry and hospital politics. We got enough of those kind of story since 2007 MBC hit medical drama New Heart.
To be honest, we finished New Heart only because of Ji Sung’s down to earth unique character and how amazing Ji Sung portrayed his role. Aside of that, the story was a bunch of predictable and boring sequence.
So, here comes upcoming KBS drama, Brain for Monday Tuesday’s slot replacing rating struggling Poseidon.
After back to back drama with disappointing rating (Spy Myungwol and Poseidon), there’s a huge burden so Brain’s production team ditched initial confirmed cast Lee Sang Hyun and Yoon Seung Ah and hunt big name Song Seung Heon for the role.
Unfortunately the My Princess‘ star turned down the offer and finally Brain settled with Shin Ha Kyun and Choi Jung Won.
Better known as movie actor, Brain will be Shin Ha Kyun’s third tv drama after 2003 A Good Person and last year tvN’s Harvest Villa.
Shin Ha Kyun will play Lee Kang Hoon a man who gained success and becomes a general director of a hospital. Later on, he changes into a real doctor after he met Kim Sang Chul (played by Jung Jin Young).
Brain also starred by Choi Jung Won (Pick The Stars) who will play Yoon Ji Hye, a neurosurgery doctor who has high sense of duty, hard at study and work but a warm and sincere doctor for patients.
Jo Dong Hyuk (Yaksha) also joined as Seo Jun Seok, a handsome , gentle and thoughtful doctor but also the rival of Lee Kang Hoon.
There’s nothing new in the story, so at first we’re not interested at all with Brain. When Song Seung Heon was rumored to join, we thought that we should watch at least the first episode to check him.
But now with Shin Ha Kyun and Choi Jung Won, Brain got our full attention because we love Choi Jung Won since Pick The Stars in early 2010 and waited so long for her new project.
So, Brain and Choi Jung Won, fighting !
